On May 9, 2012, the world lost this revolutionary artist. At the age of 84, Sassoon passed away in his Bel Air home, in Los Angeles, of what has been reported as 'natural causes' by The New York Times.

From the beginning of his career every scissor flick, every shade, and every precise nick those beautifully skillful hands created was of the utmost perfection.

His breakthrough moment of fame came in the 1960s when Mia Farrow donned the first shocking yet gorgeous bob that cinema, and the world, had every seen. Her 1968 debut in Roman Polanski’s ‘Rosemary's Baby’ was truly the beginning of Vidal Sassoon.

A reported $130 million net worth in December 2010 by Forbes, Vidal Sassoon has created one of the largest salon and product companies in the world.

"To sculpt a head of hair with scissors is an artform. It's in pursuit of art," was Vidal’s mantra.

Although the man behind the company has passed away, the profound impact he has had on fashion and culture will live on without end.
