The Oracle Gold Coast Fashion Week 2012
8-12 February 2012

Gold Coast and fashion normally aren’t synonymous with one another; however after this year’s Fashion Week at The Oracle in Broadbeach, the tides, as they say, are definitely turning.

With legendary fashion icons Nicola Finetti and Carla Zampatti headlining the stellar program of Established and Up & Coming designers, even the stormy weather couldn’t keep the polished fashionistas away from this intimate event.

Labels showcased from all over the country but the locals were the ones that brought the house down including Talulah, Mac & Bain, Ashlee Hart and Damsel In This Dress.

Melbourne designer Susan Rep took out the Up & Coming Designer Award with her spectacular silk kaftans.

The biggest day of the event was Saturday which featured 8 Up & Coming Swimwear designers, and with Gold Coast being the bikini capital of Australia, it was standing room only as guests stood behind rows of chairs to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous frills and bows, vibrant colours and of course skimpy cuts.

The show kicked off with interstate label LUCA Australia followed by local labels Vivacious, Saucy Rose then Sydney label Coco Riche and locals Kezini, Molly & Polly and ending with known Sydney label Karla Spetic.

Bold prints and high-waisted briefs were prominent on the catwalk as were ruffles and frills and vibrant colours, but it was LUCA Australia that won the Up & Coming Swimwear Designer Award with the judges saying her collection was the most marketable, wearable and well made.

And of course, the show everyone was waiting for, the finale event — Nicola Finetti. A collection of bold colours, geometric prints and mixed textures these garments with a change of hair and accessories can easily take you from corporate to club in a heartbeat. Still carrying Finetti’s signature style, the collection was the cherry on top of a remarkable event.

Congratulations to all involved, it was a fantastic event.
