Dazzle and sparkle was in the air on Friday July 27 at the Grand Ballroom, Burswood Entertainment Centre.

The Western Australian AIDs Council hosted the Happy Birthday STYLEAID, a phenomenal 15th birthday bash, celebrating the who’s who of Perth design on and off the stage.

Aurelio Costarella leaves me breathless at the best of times, so it was an absolute thrill as he opened the show with chic and perfectly fitting dresses which can only be described as walking inspiration.

From there the show escalated as Garth Cook began with pastels and delicately revealed the female form with shear materials, Zsadar draped the male form with ease demonstrating that demonstrated that fashion is for males too.

Ae'lkemi, a favourite Perth designer, did not disappoint and the pieces were vibrant with revealing backlines and originality which we all love.

Dilettante, by Vivienne Westwood, reminded us that fashion is enjoyed best as wearable art and Zhivago, a celebration of the female form, left me breathless.

The show had it all! The little black dress by Monster Alphabets and Morrison, colourful prints by Fenella Peacock, casual threads by Flannel and United constructions, young and flirty Poppy Lissman, the colourful maxi dress by Empire Rose, swimsuits by Bikini Atoll and perfectly draped cuts and folds by One Fell Swoop.

The show finished with candy flossed inspired visual delights by WA student designers who will no doubt be gracing the headlines in years to come.

On an overcast night, in a back street of Fremantle, a rustic warehouse was transformed into a luxurious romantic escape as Fenella Peacock showcased her A/W 2012 ‘Poetica’ collection on Friday April 27.

All the elements conspired to aid a worthwhile cause, with all funds from the evening being contributed towards the Junior Exchange Sailing Scheme (J.E.S.S).

The flowing garments were accentuated by an inspired choice of venue composed of antique timbre and soft lighting.

The elegant collection utilises velvet, lace, leather and silk interchangeably and with ease.

Charmed and awestruck observers breathed joyous whispers of delight as no fabric was left untouched.

The sway and sweep of the cuts flaunt the fact that this range is made to be mixed and matched.

The softly layered earthy tones, austerely strict pencil skirts and sensual tones confirm the intimate understanding that Fenella possesses of the female form.

A sneak peak at the Spring/Summer 2012/13 ‘Odalisque’ collection allowed individuality to shine, and it was apparent that colour is the medium of expression in this coming range.

The show was pulled together with signature red lipstick as the night filled with feminine flavour came to an end.
